Sparky

I received this email in my inbox this morning and have been chuckling over it ever since... It's hilarious! Reminds me of how we usta call Lisa 'Sparky' when we all still lived in the same house. I thought perhaps my reading audience might enjoy it as well, namely miss emily since I think she's my only reader! I appreciate your support em... ;) Enjoy!

"Hi everyone--
I come to you from the iSchool community kitchen on the 4th floor of the Sanchez Building with a report on the Norelco coffee maker that, until just recently, sat next to the microwave. (I have nicknamed this coffee maker "Sparky"). For safety reasons, I've thrown Sparky in the trash can and replaced him with the coffee maker that was up in the cupboard.

I had brought coffee from home and was about to try Sparky for the first time, when I noticed that the on/off switch appeared damaged. Let me say now that I haven't had much sleep recently, so what I did might not have been the wisest course of action, but I plugged the machine in and turned it on. I assumed that either the damage was merely cosmetic and it would work OK, or else it would not work at all. The third possibility that I did not anticipate was that the switch would explode with a loud POP and a blue spark of electricity, leaving a smudge of black soot on the counter top and on my thumb.

If Sparky was yours and has sentimental value, you are welcome to rescue him from the trash can. But I would advise against plugging him in. The coffee maker that I put in Sparky's place didn't have any signs of damage, and when I turned it on it didn't explode. But I haven't tried it out to know if it actually works or not. (If it doesn't, there's another one in the cabinet below the microwave.)

Danger of electrocution notwithstanding, I'd like to say that having the kitchen here makes my life a lot easier-- kudos to SASI for maintaining it. But do be careful with the appliances.

Regards--"
