The Deadly Tuna
StarKist Solid White Albacore Tuna packed in brine, is supposedly a safe, dolphin-friendly, bleach free little can packed full of protein, scant on fat and it lasts FOREVER. This friendly little fish almost killed me today. For some strange reason protein has to be eaten slow but I was in a HUGE hurry today and so I popped off the top of my little can, drained it and proceeded to try and get my daily protein intake as quickly as possible. I swallowed just fine and probably chewed a little too but the tuna grabbed onto my esaphogus and got STUCK. Completely stuck, not moving, horrible shooting chest pains and you can't control your esaphogus past your throat so it was swallowing and swallowing. OOOOOO the pain. It was really tramatizing and I couldn't quite make it to the water cooler across the room so I clutched onto the counter next to me and looked up at the ceiling and blinked hopefully. Nada. I could feel tears of pain welling up so I grabbed the closest source of water, a juicy plum and that managed to convince the stubborn tuna leave my esaphogus and proceed on to my tummy. I slowly finished my little tuna can without further troubles but my insides are still sore and battered. The moral. Be careful with the tuna and chew before swallowing, even if you aren't so keen on the taste.
