More Mexican Plates

It's Tuesday, actually probally Wednesday by now and my leetle toes are warmingup from running outside to charge my PDA with the car charger. Seems I forgot the wall attachment, luckly my trusty gold mazda is there for me yet again. It must be making up for the huge credit card bill that I just sank into it... O well. So lets see. Today was a day of failed experiments and i've heard about it all evening. In a desperate effort to dispense of the 2 bags of fuji apples that the derricks have left over from their camping trip I went online and researched the uses of aforementioned apples. In retrospect I should just JUICE them however this little french tarte caught my eye and I spent hours shopping, preparing the carmel, baking, and puff pastry topping only to be left with a watery, supersweet, mushy dessert atrocity. It was shameful as well because after lisa and momma had tried it they invited everyone over so they could experience the nastiness as well. Yup, i'll never hear the end of it. I must add that at this point, even with all the windows open, the kitchen stank of reduced rice vinegar from another attempt to use up fuji apples, the Ginger-Apple Chutney. Yup, Chef Lee, evidently he has a popular TV show in a small far-eastern country, recommended the chutney as a western FAVORITE when added to the normal ingredients of potstickers. SO I cut 5 APPLES into 1/4 inch chunks and diced multiple ingredients and then reduced the entire mixture and THEN stuffed 96 dumplings (I am actually rather good at that now.) After making a couple trayfuls of perfectly shaped potstickers I attempted to cook them in a subpar pan as somehow the non-stick coating on my WOK had been burnt off and gone to rust, and they all stuck. my mommy liked them though. At this point the rest were thrown in the freezer and I ate raspberry sorbet from the carton with lisa except I wasn't allowed to redip my spoon. Infection. You know. I felt quite sorry for myself for a good 15 minutes there but I got over it, my tummy is actually a little sore still, I think everyone else's is too. Hehe... They had to eat spicy popcorn chicken from the freezer since the AMAZING dinner didn't turn out. Oops. OO and exciting, the plates i've been eyeing for months now went on sale for a dollar a piece so we hit up a couple HEBs to get enough. The first stop I had to hear about the attrocities of Mexican decorations and my lack of taste with a little nice hispanic lady in line behind me so my ears were BURNING by the time I made it out but now they're saftely tucked away with all the other CRAZY colors in the cabinet. Tomorrow i'm heading down to Wimberley, I have 2, only 2, phone calls to make, AND i'm hanging out with JennLee in the afternoon after several unsuccessful attempts. Almost out of batteries again and my toes have just started to warm up soooo NITE. I'll add more later. :)
